Rachele Bordoni

Rachele is a PhD student at the University of Genoa. Her project, “Development of decision support systems (SDSS) for sustainable development: spatially explicit analysis of the ecosystem services offered by the Ligurian coast”, has been active since January 2022 and is aimed at developing a system capable of helping policy makers and stakeholders to make better and more informed decisions.

She has a degree in Environmental Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Marine Biology and Ecology from the University of Genoa. During her studies and occasional works at the University of Genoa and CoNISMa (National Interuniversity Consortium for Marine Sciences) she dealt with Space Ecology, i.e. the spatial distributions of habitats, resources or species and Ecological Economics, in particular the assessment of natural capital and ecosystem services through energy analysis and environmental accounting for Marine Protected Areas.

Rachele firmly believes that only by considering the environment, the economy and society together, is it possible to achieve sustainable development and guarantee a healthy future for the next generations.
