Eric Barberà Mas

Researcher

Eric is a researcher with a strong interest in sustainable well-being, social economics, and the role of institutions in shaping equitable societies. He recently completed his PhD in Economics of Well-being at Universitat Rovira i Virgili, with additional academic training in Barcelona and Luxembourg. His dissertation, “Towards a Comprehensive Understanding of Well-being: Conceptualization, Measurement, and Main Economic and Institutional Drivers,” contributed to the “Beyond GDP” agenda by combining conceptual and empirical approaches to rethinking how societies define, measure and pursue progress.

Eric’s work integrates robust economic analysis with a deep social perspective. He has applied both traditional econometric methods and emerging machine learning techniques to examine well-being, public policy and economic factors. He is also a member of the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies (ISQOLS).

At Hot or Cool, Eric coordinates the Caring Societies project, focused on exploring the potential of expanded care work to advance gender equality, enhance well-being, and support sustainability. He is particularly motivated to advance new narratives and develop practical pathways to achieve well-being for today’s and future generations.
