In 2023, Hot or Cool published Economies that Dare to Care. The report brought to light the critical need to rethink care as a central component of building a more just and sustainable economy. The report made several recommendations, including two that focused on paid and unpaid care work and working time.
This workshop, which comes at the beginning of the project, provides the opportunity for a diverse group of stakeholders to inform this analysis, identifying the multiple causal pathways, feedback loops and side-effects that may be relevant. The sessions from the workshop will help ensure that the subsequent quantitative modelling and scenario development are grounded in real-world complexities and informed by relevant research from across the multiple disciplines and policy areas that converge in the care economy.
